The Care Co-ordinator is often the most important role in the care of any individual. I supervise inter-disciplinary care by bringing together different specialists to support each client. I am also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the support delivered to all of our clients.
Previously, I worked as a dental nurse, which involved reception duties where I developed strong organisational skills. Planning was paramount, since each patient was only allocated a 15-minute slot!
Rewards and challenges
I find covering calls (client visits) and matching each client to their support worker most rewarding – especially when it just works! Every client is completely different in his or her needs and interests. It’s my job to match client to support worker depending on these factors. The most challenging aspect of my role is ensuring every call is allocated in a reasonable timescale.
